Hard disk and pen drive containing details of IT raid in four premises of a dealer in Raipur

New Delhi: The Income-tax department has raided a dealer in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, earlier this week and found hawala transactions worth over Rs 100 crore, sources said.

According to the Income Tax Department, four premises of an unidentified dealer were raided in Raipur on June 21 and electronic devices containing details of unaccounted cash and hawala transactions worth Rs 6 crore were seized.

This action has been taken by the Income Tax Department after receiving certain information from the Income Tax Department. The CBDT said in a statement that the dealers were making entries including sales and purchases. In addition, unaccounted money was also entered.

The CBDT further said that hard disks and pen drives containing details of hawala transactions have also been seized. The Central Board of Direct Taxes is the highest decision-making body for the income tax department.

The income tax department is conducting further investigation of the information stored in the digital device and finding out the total amount of illegal entry. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the value of hawala transactions is more than Rs 100 crore.
