Government ready to take drastic action against Twitter: FIR filed

- Interesting turn in the battle between the Government of India and Twitter: Twitter is now responsible for the details released on Twitter

- Legal protection for Twitter ceased: Both offensive and provocative posts on Twitter will now be prosecuted.

- Twitter deliberately did not follow the rules: Ravi Shankar Prasad

New Delhi: The battle between the Indian government and Twitter has been going on for several days. US social media company Twitter is not ready to accept the new IT rules of the Indian government. So the government has now removed the legal protection that Twitter receives as a foreign company. This literally means that any information presented on Twitter could be prosecuted directly against Twitter. The government has not officially informed the company of this decision but will do so now. Twitter could have got this protection if it had accepted India's IT rules.

Within hours of the announcement of the decision, the police registered Twitter in the FIR (Final Information Report). In Uttar Pradesh, Ghaziabad police have registered a case against a total of nine parties for inciting intimidation, including Twitter. Abdul Samad's video from Ghaziabad went viral. In it, the man alleged that despite being a Muslim, he was forced to chant the slogan of Jai Shri Ram.

In fact, those who misbehaved with Abdul Samad were offended by the amulet given by him. There was no question of Hindu-Muslim. But the video was released on Twitter in the name of Hindu-Muslim animosity. Therefore, a complaint has been lodged against the journalists Zubair Ahmed, Rana Ayub, Saba Naqvi, Congress leader Salman Namazi, etc. who released the video. There has also been a complaint against Twitter for having this video on Twitter and action will now be taken.

The Indian government has enacted new IT rules, which gave foreign social media and technology giants six months to implement. Although the deadline expired on May 9, Twitter accepted the rules and did not appoint a grievance officer as instructed by the Indian government. That is why the legal protection that Twitter used to get under Article 7 has now been discontinued.

This means that if one of the millions of tweets on Twitter every day is against social peace, incitement, against the interests of the country, then action will be taken against the tweeter, but action will be taken against Twitter. Until now, action has been taken against any person or organization for tweeting.

Twitter was given the option of appointing a grievance officer so that no action would be taken against it. Twitter is not prepared to accept the appointment of a complaint officer or other instructions given by the Indian government. In this regard, Union IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that Twitter did not follow the rules on purpose. For the conflict has arisen. There are many issues, including the peasant movement, when there is a conflict between the government and Twitter. A number of tweets alleging mass killings of farmers were seen on Twitter, against which Twitter did not take action. Twitter has over 20 million users in India. Now more action could be taken if Twitter does not reconcile with the government.

Twitter is a company known for its arbitrariness. He has previously closed the account of US President Trump, who has millions of followers. So Twitter does not tend to be under pressure. The new rules are an attempt by the Indian government to put pressure on it, Twitter said. Now its drastic results have begun.

Ravi Shankar Prasad added that giant tech companies like Facebook, Google etc. have accepted the rules of the Government of India. Twitter, meanwhile, has opted for the dispute. He said the Uttar Pradesh incident proves that Twitter promotes fake news.

Twitter will be in trouble if it does not get legal protection again. Because on Twitter, a number of fake-harmful, harmful information-videos-photos are tweeted every day. The government could blame Twitter for all of this.

Delhi Police went to Bangalore to interrogate Maheshwari

Toolkit case: Delhi Police interrogates Twitter MD

- The Twitter Indiana MD has no special knowledge of his own team

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra recently tweeted about the alleged Congress toolkit. Twitter then revealed it was manipulated media. Delhi Police has questioned Twitter MD Manish Maheshwari in the case.

According to sources, a team of Delhi Police had on May 31 traveled to Bangalore to interrogate Maheshwari over the matter. Government sources said the Delhi Police probe was showing a clear picture of Twitter India's relationship with the US-based company, as well as uncovering a complex web of corporate scams to mislead Indian law enforcement agencies.

Delhi Police had sent a notice to Twitter India seeking information as to why the tweet of the concerned character was tagged in the form of manipulated media on the so-called Congress toolkit. Top government sources said the decision to question the managing director of Twitter India was taken after Delhi Police received an abusive response to his notices.

Maheshwari told Delhi Police that despite being a senior official of Twitter India, he did not know much about the company's directors. He himself was informed of the organizational structure of Twitter India through records created by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Delhi Police is also surprised that despite having a senior company employee in the country, they know very little about their team.

Maheshwari said he reports to Singapore-based U Sasamoto on Twitter. Sasamoto became head of Twitter for Japan, South Korea and Asia Pacific on May 1 this year. He replaced Maya Hari.

Delhi Police sources made it clear that Maheshwari had admitted that he was reporting an employee of Twitter Asia Pacific, arguing that he was not affiliated with Twitter INC, which was clearly not true.

Will Twitter be blocked? : What difference does it make to Twitter users?

The biggest question after this decision of the government has come up against two other Twitter users in India. Will the removal of legal protection from Twitter affect the individual Twitter account? Will Twitter be blocked in India?

The first is that people who tweet genuinely, do not spread false information, do not post fake video-photos will not be affected. The Twitter-government tussle is unlikely to affect its users at this time.

That way, Twitter is unlikely to be blocked in India. Because India is a democratic country. So if Twitter blocks, India's image around the world will be bad. But if Twitter maintains its tough stance, then the government will have to be even tougher.
