Farmers in Punjab and Haryana burn copies of Centre's agriculture law

Farmers in several places rallied and chanted slogans against the central government, demanding immediate repeal of agricultural laws.

Chandigarh: Farmers staged demonstrations outside the homes of BJP MPs and MLAs in protest of the Centre's agriculture law. Meanwhile, farmers also burnt copies of agricultural laws and chanted slogans against the central government. The impact of the protests was felt in Punjab and Haryana.

Large numbers of security guards were deployed at various places in Punjab and Haryana. A complete revolution day was declared by the United Kisan Morcha. Under this, demonstrations were organized in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Mohali, Abohar, Hoshiarpur, Barnala, Nawanshahr, Chandigarh, Jind, Karnal, Panipat and Ambala in Punjab. Farmers, meanwhile, hailed copies of agricultural laws.

Meanwhile, a large number of farmers had also gathered outside Union Minister Som Prakash's house. In Hoshiarpur, farmers staged a rally near a local gurdwara.

In Karnal, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar appealed to the people not to disturb law and order. Farmers staged a protest near the home of Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij in Ambala. Similarly, farmers staged a protest near the house of Ambala MLA Asim Goyal.

Farmers have been protesting against the central government's agricultural law for the last six months. Farmers claim that the Centre's law will not provide support prices and will also destroy the APMC market. Farmers are demanding repeal of these laws.
