Kabul: The United States is withdrawing its troops from Afghanistan. The Afghan military has stepped up operations against Taliban militants. There are reports that airstrikes were carried out by the Afghan army and air force on Taliban militant hideouts. In which 50 Taliban terrorists were killed.

The operation was carried out in the Paktia province of Afghanistan, with the region's governor, Mohammad Halim Fedai, saying most of the terrorists killed in the attack were foreigners.

The airstrikes were carried out late Sunday night in Zarmat, Mirzaka and Ahmedabad districts of the area. Five security personnel went missing after terrorists blew up a checkpoint in the Kalkin area before the operation. There are also reports of more than a dozen deaths.

Taliban militants have become more active in Afghanistan since the United States began withdrawing its troops on May 1 and have launched attacks on the Afghan army. Air strikes have also been stepped up by the Afghan army. The latest airstrikes were aimed at Taliban militants or their sympathizers.
