3 Indians in the final 11 of the US Spelling Bee competition

Six of the final 11 contestants in this year's US Spelling Bee competition are of Indian descent. It is to be mentioned that for the last 20 years this competition has been dominated by students of Indian origin.

The final competition of the Scripps National Spelling Bee final will be held on July 7. In which a total of 11 students will participate out of which 9 will be American of Indian origin. It is worth mentioning that even though Indians make up less than 1% of the total population of the United States, Indians have dominated this competition for the last 20 years.

Among the final 11 students are 18-year-old Roy Seligman, 18-year-old Bhavana Medini, 18-year-old Srinath Gajula, 18-year-old Ashrita Gandhari, 12-year-old Avni Joshi, 18-year-old Zaila Avant, 10-year-old Vivinsha Veduru, 19-year-old Vivi, 18-year-old They include 16-year-old Akshaini Kamma and 18-year-old Chaitra Thumumla.

The competition was canceled in 2020 due to the corona virus epidemic. However, in 2012, eight contestants were declared winners in this competition. Seven of them were Indian-Americans. At the same time, the number of American winners of Indian descent has increased from 12 to 6.
