Victims of violence in West Bengal still living in relief camps, Governor visits

Calcutta, 14 May 2021, Friday

Hundreds of people were fleeing to Assam in fear of post-election violence in West Bengal. They are still living in camps as refugees.

An elderly man met the governor during his visit and began to cry. A news agency also shared the photos, which show an elderly man crying as he describes the way the governor was tortured and embraces the governor. Meanwhile, Governor Dhankhade has assured all possible help to the families of the victims.

"After the Bengal election results came out on May 2, we were forced to leave our home in Bengal. Trinamool Congress thugs vandalized our house," said people living in a refugee camp in Assam.

Earlier, the governor had traveled by road from Cooch Behar to the camp and interacted with the people living in the camp. That is, the country is battling Corona on the one hand and West Bengal Corona and violence on the other. The reason for the post-election violence is that some people decided to vote as they wished.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also opposed the governor's visit, saying that the governor had violated the rules by visiting areas affected by the violence.
