The cyclonic storm is wreaking havoc on the southwestern states of the country. After wreaking havoc in Kerala, Karnataka and Goa, its effects are also being felt in Maharashtra. Amidst the hurricane alert, BMC has closed the Bandra-Worli sea link in Mumbai till further orders. People are being urged to stay at home by the administration and the state government.

This hurricane is moving towards Gujarat. Storm-affected areas in various states have so far killed 8 people and uprooted as many as 100 trees. In addition, many houses have been damaged. Buildings have also been damaged in Maharashtra. Heavy rains are expected in coastal areas of Gujarat on Monday and Tuesday. 50 teams of NDRF have been deployed to deal with the disaster.

Rain with heavy winds in Mumbai

It is raining with strong winds in Mumbai. The meteorological department has issued an orange alert for rain. In Mumbai's Wadala, the effects of the hurricane have begun to show and light rains have started with strong winds. Temporary shelter homes have been set up at 5 places in Mumbai amidst hurricane risk. 3 teams of NDRF and 6 teams of fire brigade have also been deployed in West Mumbai to prevent floods.
