The apex court said that the accused had spent more than six years in jail for not having Rs 60 lakh. The man was arrested on June 30, 2014. "I am a poor person and my name as a director of the company was misrepresented. I was a watchman in the company," petitioner SK Mamutaz told the court.

He had challenged the Orissa High Court's bail plea in the apex court. After hearing his arguments, the apex court has now lifted the condition and ordered his release on bail.

According to police, the petitioner along with other accused had made bogus documents and swindled Rs 4 crore. The victim wanted to buy 100 acres of land to set up an NGO. He may flee if granted bail, as he has absconded after another accused in the case was granted interim bail.
