Israel rocks 9,000 troops on Gaza border in preparation for ground attack after airstrikes

New Delhi, May 14, 2021, Friday

Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas have been embroiled in a bloody conflict for the past few days, in which Israel has announced it will send a large number of troops to the Gaza border. Due to which this conflict is getting more and more intense

So far, Hamas has been launching rockets at various Israeli cities, and Israel has responded with air strikes. However, Israel has now asked its 9,000 troops to be prepared for a possible ground invasion. The situation could be even more explosive if Israeli troops cross the border into Gaza.

Egypt is trying to end the conflict between Hamas and Israel but talks are not moving forward. In Israel, on the other hand, communal violence between Arabs and Jews has erupted over the past four days. Ther Ther group clashes have taken place in the city of Lod and the violence continues even after the increased police presence. This kind of violence is being seen decades later.

Rockets were also fired from Lebanon at Israel last night. Thus, there is now a danger of opening another front against Israel on the Lebanese border. "Efforts are being made by Egypt, Qatar and the UN for a ceasefire," Saleh Arouri, a senior Hamas leader, told a London-based channel. He appealed for a three-hour ban on the conflict to move the talks forward but we have turned down the offer.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement that Hamas would have to pay a "huge price" and that "we will continue to do so."

The conflict between Hamas and Israel began on Monday. Israel has targeted hundreds of buildings in retaliatory airstrikes in Gaza after Hamas launched a rocket attack on Israel. Gaza's health ministry says 100 Palestinians, including 28 children and 15 women, have been killed in Israeli airstrikes. 621 people are injured. Israel says seven of its citizens have been killed in a Hamas rocket attack, including a six-year-old child.
