Moscow, 21 May 2021 Tuesday

India is set to receive the first batch of S-400 missile systems from Russia soon. A senior official at Rosoboran Exports, Russia's state arms exporter, said on Thursday that India would receive the missile systems by October-December. "Everything is going according to schedule," said Alexander Mikheyev, the company's CEO.

Started training on S-400

The S-400 is Russia's most advanced surface-to-air long-range missile defense system. The Triumph missile system is capable of destroying enemy aircraft, missiles and drones from a distance of 400 kilometers. According to the agency, Indian experts have reached Russia and started S-400 related training in January 2021.

Notably, in October 2018, India signed an agreement with Russia to buy five units of the S-400 air defense missile system for 5 billion. India signed the deal despite threats of sanctions by former US President Donald Trump's administration. India paid the first installment of Rs 80 crore in 2019 to buy the missile system.
