New Delhi, 13 May 2021 Thursday

Chief Justice of the country N.V. Raman said he was seriously considering a proposal to telecast the hearing live in the Supreme Court. Justice Ramn, however, also said that he wanted to consider the matter with all his colleagues in the Supreme Court before taking any concrete action.

Speaking on the occasion of the launch of an app allowing virtual media personnel to be involved in court hearings, Justice Ram said, recalling his days as a journalist, Chief Justice Ram said that the media faces tough challenges in reporting and he knows that Journalists have to rely on lawyers to cover the court hearings.

He said that in view of this, a request was made to develop a process in which a media employee could participate in a hearing. "I have been a journalist for some time," he said. We did not have a car or a bike at that time. We were traveling in the bus because we were told not to take the transport facility from the organizers.

Urging the media to use the app responsibly and strictly follow the Kovid protocol, the Chief Justice said the technology, especially the new technique, is sensitive and may face some difficulties in the early days of use.

Judge Raman said minor problems would come and they should not be exaggerated unnecessarily. I urge everyone to be patient and help the technical team so that the application works properly without any problems. I hope each system is given time to improve and function properly.

"I would also like to mention that today we are also introducing additional features on the official website and the Supreme Court's mobile app," he said. This new feature called 'Indicative Notes' will provide an easy-to-understand summary of important decisions. It will be important for media personnel and the general public who want to know / understand the court's rulings. '

Regarding the recognition of media persons, Judge Raman said that he has instructed to make the policy more rational and he is considering appointing a senior official to have a unique liaison between the Supreme Court and the media.
