Good news! People aged 18-44 will now be able to get vaccinated even without booking an online slot

New Delhi, 24 May 2021 Monday

The Cowin Portal was launched to facilitate vaccinators, but since vaccination for 18-44 year olds has started, thousands of people come to the Cowin Portal every day to book slots for vaccinations and vacancies. The Ministry of Health has taken a big decision keeping in view this problem of the people. The ministry said that people between the ages of 18-44 can now register and make appointments at any government vaccination center without any appointment. It has started from today i.e. 24th May.

The ministry said there was no need to make an online appointment to vaccinate children aged 18-44. It is better if you have already registered, otherwise you have to register at the vaccination center and then you will get an appointment and vaccination. The ministry said the decision was taken after receiving reports that vaccines were wasted in many places during online appointments.

All the states and Union Territories have been informed in this regard, the ministry said. Only after the decision of different states will there be onsite registration and appointment. That is, the final decision is in the hands of the state government.

The ministry has made it clear that the facility is currently only available at government vaccination centers. So far, only people over the age of 45 have been vaccinated without an appointment, while those aged 18-64 had to book online slots after registering on the Cowin portal, which is causing a lot of trouble for people.
