Corona's new variant is fast and dangerous, no alternative but lockdown: AIIMS Director

- Strict lockdown required to prevent Corona's case-death

- Delhi and Uttar Pradesh extend lockdown till May 17, strict sanctions in Sikkim till May 16

- Two in Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Puducherry from today, one week in Mizoram and lockdown in Karnataka till May 24.

AIIMS director Dr Randeep Guleria called for a nationwide lockdown, saying more than four lakh cases would come daily if the current Corona virus chain was not broken. So the lockdown should be considered as the new Corona variant is spreading faster. A strict lockdown is essential in the country to prevent corona cases or deaths.

The entire country is affected by the Kovid-19 epidemic. And to prevent the spread of this deadly virus, many states have declared a complete lockdown. Guidelines have been issued by the government for how long the lockdown will be applicable in different states and what will be open and closed during this period. The lockdown in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh has been extended to May 17. While Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Puducherry have imposed lockdown for two weeks from Monday while Mizoram has imposed lockdown for one week. Restrictions like lockdown in Karnataka have been extended till May 24, Kerala has also imposed lockdown for nine days from Saturday.

Tamil Nadu - Chief Minister MK Stalin on Friday decided to implement the lockdown based on the advice of healthcare experts at a meeting to review the situation in Corona. Chief Minister Stalin said in a statement that there was no other option but to implement a lockdown to stop the spread of corona in the state.

Karnataka - Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa on Friday announced a full 14-day lockdown in the state. He said there would be a complete lockdown across the state from May 10 to May 24. During this time, no one will be allowed out except for essential services.

Rajasthan: The Rajasthan government has also announced a lockdown in the state from May 10 to 24. Everything except essential services will be closed during this time. Grocery, milk, vegetable, fruit and other essentials shops have been allowed to open for a while.

Kerala - The Kerala government has imposed a lockdown on Saturday (May 8) morning, which will be in force till May 16. All cinema halls, multiplexes, theaters, gyms, entertainment clubs, bars, auditoriums, places of worship, markets, private and government offices will be closed here. However, there will be no restrictions on the movement of essential items. Ration shops, vegetable shops and other essentials will remain open till 7.30 pm. Apart from this, banks, insurance companies, planes, buses or trains will also be plying in the state.

Goa - A statewide lockdown has also been announced in Goa. However, the government has called it a curfew. As per the order, strict curfew will be in force in the state from today (Sunday (May 9) for the next 15 days i.e. till May 23. During this time only essential services including medical supplies will be allowed. The grocery store will be open from 7 am to 1 pm. Also allowed for take-away orders from the restaurant from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Maharashtra - The government has imposed a week-long lockdown in Pune, Maharashtra. Police are cracking down on those who leave without a reason. During the weekend lockdown, only drugstore stores are allowed to open.
