New delhi date. May 1, 2021, Saturday

The Serum Institute of India, a Pune-based company that manufactures vaccines for the corona virus, has now started considering vaccines in other countries.

Attempts are also being made to speed up the vaccine program amid growing corona in the country but some states have complained to the Center about the shortage of vaccines. The vaccination campaign has come to a halt due to lack of vaccine.

Under these circumstances, Serum Institute CEO Adar Poonawala says the idea is to expand the vaccine production to other countries as well. A decision will be taken soon. Last week, he said, the Serum Institute would increase its capacity to 100 million doses by July. In other words, the Serum Institute will prepare 100 million doses of the vaccine every month. The serum institute's annual production capacity will be increased to 3 billion in 6 months.

The Serum Institute has also announced a reduction in the price of vaccines sold to states from Rs 400 per dose to Rs 300.
