AIIMS Director Randeep Guleria calls for three precautions to prevent mucorrhoea

Amidst another wave of corona epidemics in the country, black fungus (mucormycosis) has raised concerns. This has led to deaths in many states. Many states have declared it an epidemic.

Randeep Guleria, director, Delhi AIIMS, said three precautions were needed to prevent black fungus mucormycosis. Diabetes should be kept under control first. The second is to be careful about when to give steroids and the third is to give mild to moderate doses of steroids.

Furthermore, Dr. Naresh Trehan, chairman of Medanta Hospital, said that black fungus is found especially in the soil and cannot affect people who are healthy. The sooner we recognize this disease, the sooner its treatment will be successful.

It may be mentioned here that these states of the country Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana have declared the black fungus an epidemic.
