The demand for remedicivir injection has risen sharply in the country due to the transition to corona, a day after the government banned its sale in pharmacies.

Now, Union Minister Mansukh Mandvia has claimed that the production and supply of remedicivil will be increased and its price will be reduced. Pharmaceutical companies have been ordered to make 8 million vials of remedicivir every month. Pharmaceutical companies have also been asked to reduce its price from this week.

He said the cases had dwindled before the new wave of corona hit the country. As a result, pharmaceutical companies reduced production of remedivir. However, with the sudden rise in Corona cases, there was a huge increase in demand over supply. Which led to its scarcity.

However a meeting has been held with various companies on the matter and asked to increase production. Especially in states like Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, there is a severe shortage of remediation.

Earlier, the government had said that remedicivir should be used only on patients who are in the hospital and are being given oxygen from outside.
