Accused Shikha Sharma is a writer and has been booked under several sections. A complaint has been registered against Shikha on the basis of Section 124A (treason) of the IPC. The Guwahati police commissioner informed Shikha that he would be produced in court.

Shikha Sharma is very active on social media and wrote in an alleged post about 22 martyrs, "Salary status cannot be given to salaried businessmen who die while working in the line of duty. Shikha's post caused a stir on social media. Two Guwahati High Court judges had lodged a complaint against the author and demanded stern action against her. Shikha Sharma has been arrested on the basis of his complaint. According to Shikha Sharma's Facebook post, he works as an artist in All India Radio, Dibrugarh.
