New delhi date. 19 April 2021, Monday

For the first time in the country, the railways have decided to run Oxygen Express in view of the shortage of medical oxygen caused by Corona.

Earlier, when there was a drought in Maharashtra, water was delivered by train by rail. Now, the work of delivering oxygen by rail has been taken up. The Railways was approached by the Government of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra to check the possibility of delivering medical oxygen by the Railways. It has now been decided to implement this plan.

On Sunday, the railways announced that it was ready to deliver liquid medical oxygen and oxygen cylinders on all major corridors. Oxygen filled roll tankers will be delivered by rail using flat wagons. Testing has also been done for this.

Oxygen will be supplied from these three states of Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and Jharkhand and delivered by rail in different parts. Instructions have been given to the railway division to supply oxygen.
