Prohibition of all kinds of celebrations, processions and rallies on the day of counting of votes

The Election Commission has enacted some more stringent rules after the Election Commission was held responsible by the Madras High Court for spreading the Koro transition. The Election Commission has banned all victory processions and rallies after the counting of votes.

Counting will take place in Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala and Puducherry on May 2. Assembly elections have ended in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam and Puducherry. In West Bengal, the eighth and final phase of polling is scheduled for April 4.

The order issued by the Election Commission to the election officials of all the states said that due to the increase in corona cases in the country, the Election Commission has made some strict rules during the counting of votes. No celebrations, processions or rallies will be held after the counting of votes is completed on May 2.

The order further states that no more than two persons may be present with the winning candidate. Just yesterday, the Madras High Court held five state assembly elections responsible for the second wave of corona in the country. The High Court said that this situation has arisen in the country due to the negligence of the Election Commission.

The High Court termed the Election Commission as the most irresponsible body and said that a case of murder should be registered against the officials of the Election Commission. The judges also threatened to block the May 2 vote count. The bench directed the Election Commission to submit a copy of the protocol for the day of counting of votes on April 30.

The Election Commission has reduced the number of counting tables in one hall during the counting of votes in the Bihar Assembly elections.
