The central government has no plans to implement a large-scale lockdown even though the second wave of Corona virus epidemic is becoming more frightening in the country. In a virtual meeting with World Bank President David Malpass on Tuesday, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made it clear that the government would not implement a massive lockdown and would only deal with the epidemic through local containers.

"The finance minister shared with the World Bank president a review of the steps being taken by India to tackle the second wave of epidemics," the finance ministry tweeted. It includes a five-pillar plan including testing, treatment, vaccination.

"With the second wave, we are absolutely clear that a large-scale lockdown will not be implemented," the finance minister said. We do not want to completely disrupt the economy. The condition can be handled locally by isolation of patients or home quarantine. The second wave will be handled and the lockdown will not be enforced.
