Pakistan espionage case: Harpal was sending intelligence from 12 foreign numbers

Harpal Singh, 35, had been sending intelligence from the Indian Army and BSF to Pakistan's ISI for the past three years. He was living in India and sending secret information with the help of a foreign number. He has so far used 12 foreign numbers to send intelligence. There are 2 mobile numbers from Oman, 4 from Pakistan and 2 from other countries including Bangladesh.

Harpal used WhatsApp and Messenger in India on foreign numbers and made WhatsApp calls. He was trying to evade the security agencies by sending Indian intelligence through a foreign number, according to security agency officials. It is difficult to locate a foreign number. Delhi Police has remanded accused Harpal in police custody for 10 days.

He was sending intelligence to his ISI handler Jaspal in Pakistan. Jaspal, who lives in Pakistan, uses an Indian number. This Indian number was delivered to Jaspal by Harpal.

Harpal, who works as a laborer, was very active on social media, Special Cell officials said. He moved to Oman in June 2019, mortgaging his home and farm. He had a visa for more than 2 years but he came back in 3 months. Security agencies have been monitoring him ever since. In Oman he was drafted to work for ISI.
