Oxygen shortage in Maharashtra amid rising corona cases, appeals to central government

Mumbai, Ta. 7 April 2021, Wednesday

Within Maharashtra, more than 50,000 cases of corona are being reported every day. Which has caused oxygen shortage in the state. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Wednesday asked the Union government to supply oxygen from neighboring states. State Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has already said that if the number of cases continues to rise, health resources will be depleted in the next few days. It is worth mentioning that people who have difficulty breathing in the corona are given oxygen.

Rajesh Tope said that the states produce 12 metric tonnes of oxygen and consume more than seven tonnes of oxygen. We have then appealed for the supply of medical oxygen from neighboring states. If need be, we will also shut down industries that need oxygen. Don't let the supply of medical oxygen be cut off at any cost.

"We are working on many technologies to get the oxygen used for medical," the health minister said. On Tuesday, we also learned about technology that allows oxygen to be stored in the air. Which will meet the demand for liquefied and pressurized oxygen.
