Oxygen shortage: The government will import 50,000 metric tonnes of oxygen

Corona's outbreak has caused so much outcry that there is a shortage of medical oxygen for hospitals in various states of India.

Under these circumstances, the central government has decided to import fifty thousand metric tons of medical oxygen from abroad. Tender will be issued for this very soon. The government said the oxygen would be ordered in view of the growing case of covid. This oxygen will be supplied to states where corona transition is widespread.

These states include Maharashtra, MP, Gujarat, UP, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Haryana. At the same time, the government has directed the states to use oxygen with caution and ensure that it is not wasted.

The government says the country has the capacity to produce 7,000 metric tonnes of oxygen per day. Oxygen from the steel plant is also being used for hospitals in view of medical emergencies.
