There were sporadic incidents of violence at Nandigram during the polls in the second phase of elections held in West Bengal. Mamata Banerjee, a candidate for the seat and West Bengal CM, alleged that the security forces had helped the BJP during the polls. He had lodged a complaint with the Election Commission over the issue. However, the Election Commission has completed its probe into all the allegations leveled by Mamata Banerjee. The Election Commission has said that all the allegations leveled by Mamata Banerjee are baseless.

In response to Mamata's allegations, the Election Commission said, "It is unfortunate that an illusion was spread in the media by Mamata Banerjee." Mamata Banerjee has tried to confuse the voters. This has been done on purpose. The investigation did not find any evidence to prove that the security forces on duty in Nandigram had stopped the voters from casting their votes.

The Election Commission said that the observers visited the polling station and found that the polling process was going on without any interference. The Election Commission also called the complainant but he avoided coming. Observers in their investigation did not find any evidence of guns, hooligans or attempts to seize the polling station.
