Nationwide lockdown will not be implemented, Finance Minister assures industry

Workers are also fleeing in fear of a lockdown as people are being harassed amid the Corona riots.

On the other hand, Animesh Saxena, president of the Federation of Indian Small Medium Enterprises, spoke to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on the phone about the government's policies. Saxena said the finance minister had assured that the government had no plans to impose a nationwide lockdown. Smaller containment zones will be created to prevent the transmission of corona but no lockdown will be imposed across the country.

"PM Modi and Amit Shah are keeping an eye on the situation in the country and the states will not be allowed to run out of oxygen and medicines," the finance minister said. The vaccination program is also in full swing.

Industry associations, including FICCI, have already urged the government not to impose a nationwide lockdown. According to the organizations, the situation is similar to a lockdown in Maharashtra and the situation is deteriorating in Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan and UP due to the transition to Koro. Under these circumstances, a nationwide lockdown will hit the country's economy hard.
