Maharashtra police harass supplier willing to give remedivir: Fadnavis

New Delhi, dated 18 April 2021, Sunday

The remedial injection used to treat corona has caused a stir on the political front in Maharashtra.

The BJP has alleged that the Maharashtra police was harassing the Daman-based remedicivir supplier simply because it had agreed to give the state a stock of remedicivir at the behest of the BJP. "Four days ago, we asked Brooke Pharma to supply remedicivir in Maharashtra," said former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis. However, as this required the approval of the Central Government, I sought permission from Union Minister Mansukh Mandvia. The owner of the pharma company was then beaten by police on Saturday night.

Police mishandled the supplier, he said. We then told the police officers that we had asked the supplier to supply the remediver. The supplier's fault is that he has agreed to supply remedivisor at the behest of the BJP. Now whatever the state government is doing together with the police to harass him is wrong.

Police, on the other hand, denied Fadnavis' allegations, saying police had not arrested any suppliers. We got the black market information so the supplier was called for a blank inquiry.
