Brussels, Ta. 2
The message from Iran and other non-aligned countries was to rejoin the nuclear deal. A virtual meeting took place, in which Iran also expressed readiness to join the nuclear deal.
A virtual meeting of representatives of the European Union, China, France, Germany, Britain and Russia took place. Iran's nuclear negotiator Abbas Araghchi also took part in it.
The meeting focused on easing tensions between Iran and the United States. The Vienna Agreement was signed in 2015, in which the group countries, including the US and Iran, signed a nuclear deal.
In 2015, Donald Trump broke the agreement. Iran then withdrew from the agreement. This led to tensions between the two countries. Iran resumed its nuclear program, prompting the United States to impose sanctions on Iran, including on trade.
If Biden had promised to revive the Obama-era agreements during the US presidential election. As part of this, the world's most powerful nations again invited the United States to join the treaty.
The Iranian envoy said that if the United States lifted sanctions, it would consider shutting down its nuclear program. It was also announced that a virtual dialogue would be held again next week.
