The controversy has already started before the start of a new phase of corona vaccination. The Serum Institute had a few days ago announced a new price list for the covshield vaccine with different prices for the central and state governments. In this regard, Congress president Sonia Gandhi has written a letter to Prime Minister Modi and questioned the central government's vaccine policy.

"How can the government allow such profiteering in these circumstances when there is a shortage of beds, medicine, oxygen, etc. in the hospitals," Sonia Gandhi wrote in the letter. The Serum Institute has fixed different prices for vaccines for the Central Government and the State Government, which will be a direct burden on the general public.

Sonia Gandhi said the crisis on state governments would increase and the common man would have to pay more for vaccines. How can a single vaccine manufacturer determine 3 types of prices in these circumstances. Sonia Gandhi urged the central government to immediately withdraw its policy so that a large number of people over the age of 18 could be vaccinated.

According to the latest price list of the Serum Institute, it will provide vaccines at Rs 400 per dose to the state government, Rs 600 per dose to private hospitals and Rs 150 per dose to the central government.
