Government's major decision to import oxygen from abroad, exemption from customs duty for 3 months

Rising cases of corona virus in the country have become a matter of concern as the government on Saturday decided to waive basic customs and duty health cess on imports of covid vaccines, oxygen and oxygen related equipment, though the exemption will be for three months only The decision has been taken to increase the availability of this product in India.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to increase the supply of oxygen in the country, the statement said, stressing the urgent need for medical grade oxygen supply and equipment needed to care for patients in hospitals and homes.

At present in many places in India, including Delhi, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, due to severe shortage of oxygen, oxygen cannot be delivered to the patients in the hospital, and people are losing their lives due to this shortage.
