A fire broke out at the Dudhwa Tiger Sanctuary in Lakhimpur Khiri district in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday evening. More than 100 hectares of forest resources were burnt to ashes due to forest fires in Mylani and Kishanpur. If the fire is not brought under control, other trees in the forest will also be destroyed.

The Dudhwa Park administration has sent fire department vehicles to contain the blaze. Wildlife is also suspected to have been involved in the fire disaster. However, the cause of the fire has not been identified yet. The fire has caused chaos in Kataiya, Kamp and Tanda villages on the forest border.

People exiting the Mailani-Bhira forest saw the blaze and reported it to the forest department. The Forest Department immediately began the process of controlling the fire and work is underway at several levels. According to locals, the fire may have been caused by the scorching heat in March. But the fire has opened the floodgates of the Forest Department's preparations.

Seeing the ferocious nature of the fire, people from around 50 villages have reached there. The villagers are afraid that the forest fire will not reach their farms. Also in June last year, a huge fire broke out in the Korjon Madha beat of Kishanpur Century of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. At that time, more than 70 hectares of forest had been burnt to ashes. The big trees were not particularly damaged but the small trees were completely uprooted. No details have been released on how many animals died in the fire.
