Corona suffocation: Center bans supply of oxygen to industries from April 22


- 9 Special industries will continue to get oxygen supply as before

The central government on Sunday directed the states and union territories not to supply oxygen to industries from April 22. Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla had written a letter to the chief secretaries of all the regions and said the demand for medical oxygen was increasing in view of the growing case of corona.

Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan, which are particularly affected by the corona outbreak, are in high demand for oxygen.

Authorized Group-2 noted in the review that the supply of oxygen to industries will now be used in treatment and will save lives. In these circumstances, Group-2 has recommended to the manufacturers and suppliers to stop the supply of oxygen to the industries from April 22 till the next order, which has been approved by the government and only 9 special industries have been exempted. All Chief Secretaries will have to ensure this order in their respective territories.

The 9 industries which have been given special exemption include pharmaceutical bottles, pharmaceuticals, petroleum refineries, steel plants, nuclear power plants, oxygen cylinder manufacturing plants, waste water treatment plants, food and water purification, processed industries.
