Another BJP candidate attacked in Bengal, injured in firing by attackers

Violence has once again erupted in the ongoing elections in West Bengal, targeting a BJP candidate.

A BJP candidate was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Malda late on Sunday night, sources said. Gopal Chandra Saha, 46, is the BJP candidate from the Malda seat. He was rushed to Malda Medical College and Hospital immediately after the shooting. Where his treatment is ongoing.

According to the BJP, the incident took place at 9 pm. Before that Saha did a road show. After that he sat with some of his workers. The sound of firing would have come during this. Someone from the crowd opened fire and shot Saha in the back of the neck. He was rushed to a hospital. Where doctors saw his condition and operated on him.

The BJP has naturally blamed the TMC for the incident. BJP workers staged demonstrations on the highway in protest of the attack and threw burning tires.
