West Bengal: BJP woman MP gets poisoned face, eye injury

Calcutta, Ta. Sunday 29 March 2021

Violent clashes also erupted in West Bengal during the polls for the first phase of elections on Saturday. However, clashes are not new in Bengal. Political violence has also been taking place. However, an incident that took place yesterday is shocking because BJP MP Locket Chatterjee was poisoned. The MP has blamed TMC workers for this.

"On Saturday, when I went to attend an event with my supporters, TMC goons, led by TMC leader Vidyut Vishwas, threw poisonous paint at me," Lockett alleged.

Chatterjee sustained eye and mouth injuries in the attack. However, the TMC has denied the allegations. On the other hand, the BJP has said that the game of violence is coming to an end soon. Fearing defeat, TMC goons are now harassing women as well.

Earlier in the day, the car of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari's brother, who was contesting against Mamata Banerjee, was also attacked during the polls.
