An expensive car registered in the name of arrested police officer Sachin Waze was seized from Navi Mumbai on Tuesday, an official said, adding that the investigation team had been searching for the Mitsubishi Outlander SUV for the past several days. It may be mentioned here that this car was used in the murder of Mansukh Hiren.
The NIA has been investigating a case involving the death of its alleged owner Mansukh Hiren after a Scorpio was found outside Antilia, the south Mumbai residence of businessman Mukesh Ambani, last month. An explosive device was found in a vehicle parked outside Ambani's residence.
Upon receiving a tip-off, a team of NIA officials went to the Kamoth area of Navi Mumbai and seized an SUV car parked outside a housing society in Sector-7, they said, adding that the number plate of the car showed that the car was registered in Sachin Vaze's name. .
The NIA suspects that the SUV may have been brought by a police officer who is a colleague of Waze. Earlier, the NIA seized at least eight expensive cars, which Waze allegedly used.
