Pakistan will lift the ban on India's cotton imports

Islamabad, Ta. 30. Tuesday, March, 2021

The textile ministry, headed by Pakistan's PM Imran Khan, has recommended lifting the ban on cotton imports from India now to make up for the loss of cotton in the country's textile market.

According to a media report, the textile ministry has sought the approval of the Cabinet Economic Committee to resume import of cotton and cotton yarn from India.

Pakistan has to bow to India because of low cotton production in Pakistan. Industries in Pakistan are being forced to import cotton from countries like USA, Brazil and Uzbekistan. Pakistan needs 12 million bales of cotton this year but only 7.7 million bales from domestic production. Can happen.

On the other hand, if cotton is imported from India, it will be cheaper. In three to four days, the quantity of cotton can reach Pakistan as well.

The textile market accounts for 60 per cent of Pakistan's exports.

It may be mentioned that in protest of India's removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan had stopped trade with India but now Pakistan is coming to its senses.
