NV Ramana will be the next CJI, the name sent to the government by the current Chief Justice Bobde

Supreme Court Judge NV Ramana will be the next Chief Justice of the country. The current Chief Justice S.A. Bobade has informed the law ministry of the name of his successor. S.A. Just a month ago, when Bobby was due to retire next month, he suggested the name of Justice Ramana to the government.

With just one month to go before Chief Justice Bobdey retires, the government has begun the process of appointing a new Chief Justice. On his initiative, the CJI was asked to recommend the name of his successor. Following this recommendation, SA Bobde today recommended the name of NV Ramana as his successor.

Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has written a letter to Justice Bobde, who is on the verge of retirement, asking him to recommend the name of the new CJI. Ravi Shankar Prasad asked Justice Bobde, "Who will be your successor after you?" Who will be appointed as the 48th Chief Justice of the country? Justice Bobby is retiring on April 23.

Justice NV Ramana is currently the most senior judge of the Supreme Court. As per tradition till now, Justice Ramana was to take over as the next CJI of the country. Traditionally, about a month before retirement, the country's serving Chief Justice wrote a letter to the President recommending that the most senior Supreme Court judge be made his successor.

Upon receipt of the confidential letter from the CJI, the government completes all the formalities and appoints the most senior judge to the post of Chief Justice and the President administers the oath of office to him. Once or twice in history, the government has intervened and made a junior judge the chief justice in violation of the seniority order.
