Washington, Ta. 22
U.S. intelligence officials have claimed that Iranian military Revolutionary Guards are planning to attack a military base in the U.S. capital, Washington, and that senior military officials, including the army's vice chief of staff, are targeting Iran.
According to US intelligence officials, Iran is in the process of targeting US military bases and senior officials. The U.S. intelligence service has denied the allegations in a statement issued Friday stating "Similar, baseless allegations concerning Iran's intelligence have been made more than once. Based on that message, the intelligence service said that General Joseph M. Martin was in danger of being killed.
Talks over an attack on Washington-based Fort McNair took place between Iranian military officials. The conversation was marked by a suicide attack in the year 2000. In October 2000, a small boat capsized near a naval vessel near the Yemeni port of Aden and carried out a suicide attack, killing 12 sailors.
Revolutionary Guard officials also mentioned in the conversation that they would avenge the death of General Qasim Suleimani. In January 1980, General Qasim Suleimani, commander of the Revolutionary Guards, was killed in an American missile attack. The Iranian military is planning to attack top US officials to avenge the general's death, US intelligence officials have said.
