Facebook-Instagram-Twitter-YouTube not safe for children: Child Protection Rights Commission

New delhi date. 14. Sunday, March, 2021

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube are not safe for children, says Priyank Kanungo, chairperson of the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights.

"We have studied these social media sites and none of them are safe for children," he said in a media interview. "We have given notice to all and these sites need to be improved from India's perspective." If they want to do business in India, they have to protect the rights of children. Otherwise, they will not be allowed to do business in India in this way. The process of correcting them will also be undertaken by the Children's Commission.

Notably, the Children's Commission had recently issued a notice to the web series Bombay Begum for showing a scene of drugs taken by a 13-year-old girl and ordered Netflix to shut down the web series.

"There is no other right over the right to life of children," he said.
