Arrest of 3 including Shiv Puja, Hindu Mahasabha office bearers at Taj Mahal on the occasion of Mahashivaratri


- Religious activities other than Jumma prayers and Urs are banned in Taj Mahal premises

On the occasion of Mahashivaratri, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) nabbed a woman office bearer and two activists of a Hindutva organization who had arrived at the Taj Mahal in Agra to pay homage to Shiva. The three were then handed over to the police and interrogated by the police.

On the occasion of Mahashivaratri, the Hindutva organization worshiped the Taj Mahal on Thursday morning as Tejo Mahalaya. Meena Diwakar, the provincial president of the Hindu Mahasabha, started chanting ceremonies on a Diana bench near the central tank and was apprehended by the CISF at the time.

Along with Meena Diwakar, two other activists were also arrested. The CISF had handed over the three to the police. Police took him into custody at Tajganj police station. Activists including Hindu Mahasabha national spokesperson Sanjay Jat and district president Ronak Thakur reached Tajganj Thane as soon as they were informed about this.

Shah Jahan's three-day Urs is underway at the Taj Mahal. As per the rules, any religious activities other than the traditional Jumma prayers and Shah Jahan's Urs are prohibited in the Taj Mahal. However a few days ago an organization in the Taj Mahal premises recited Hanuman Chalisa.
