Three arrested in Mumbai with mephadrone drug worth Rs 12.5 crore

Mumbai police today arrested three people with mephadrone drugs worth Rs 12.5 crore. Iqbal Hussain, 38, was arrested on Thursday by Dongri police led by Inspector Prakash Linge.

Police found a drug worth Rs 60,000 from him. Based on his interrogation, police raided a hotel in Navi Mumbai where another runner named Abdul Wasim was sitting. Police seized mephadrone worth Rs 2.8 lakh from him.

"After investigating the drug network for two consecutive days and chasing them, we found Deepak Sanjeev Bangera from Ghatkopar who was selling the drug. A mephadrone worth Rs 12.50 crore was found during a raid on Kalina at Santa Cruz in Bangera on Saturday evening, the official said.

According to police, Rs 5 lakh in cash and other items besides packing material were also seized during the raid. The accused were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The three were remanded in police custody till February 25.
