Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited Pondicherry in connection with the forthcoming Assembly elections in which he interacted with fishermen on Wednesday. During Rahul Gandhi's meeting with fishermen, Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy was also present there. During a conversation with Rahul, a woman said in Tamil, "He (Narayanasamy) is here. Did he ever come to us during the cyclone?" Asked the same question.

When the Chief Minister came to translate this question of a woman before Rahul Gandhi, he misinterpreted it. Narayanasamy told Rahul Gandhi, "This woman is saying that during the cyclone, I (Narayanasamy) came and helped in the relief work in the area." The video of the Chief Minister openly lying on social media is going very viral.

Rahul Gandhi visited Pondicherry to launch the party's campaign for the forthcoming Assembly elections in the Union Territory. At the time he said it was not possible to describe everything in words and experience was needed to understand it better. At the same time he expressed his desire to travel with the fishermen in his next fishing boat to know the experiences and problems of the fishermen.

Rahul accused of 'lying' politics

During a dialogue with fishermen in Pondicherry, Rahul Gandhi termed them as sea farmers and questioned if there could be a separate ministry for farming farmers, why not for them. Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Giriraj Singh then tweeted to Rahul Gandhi, saying, "He (Rahul) should know that Prime Minister Narendra Modi created a new ministry on May 31, 2019. Rahulji, I request you. I urge you to visit the new Ministry of Fisheries or I will come to you and tell you about the schemes being implemented by the Ministry of Fisheries in Pondicherry and across the country. " Union Minister Anurag Thakur had joked that the Congress was being humiliated by Rahul Gandhi's false politics. Union Minister Smriti Irani also tweeted in Italian targeting Rahul Gandhi.
