Tensions on the border between India and China remain high and in the midst of this situation, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has also admitted that despite nine rounds of talks between India and China, the impact is not being felt on the ground.

"Top army officials have met with China nine times. There has been some progress in the talks but it cannot be seen as a solution to the problem. The talks have not had any impact on the ground," Jaishankar said.

Talks between China and India have been going on since May 5 after tensions erupted on the Ladakh front. Jaishankar said the issue of troop retreat is very complex. The decision rests with the army.

Earlier, the government had said in the Rajya Sabha that China had made repeated attempts to change the situation on the Line of Actual Control in April-May but the Indian Army had thwarted such efforts and made it clear with China that such moves were not acceptable to India. The action threatens peaceful relations between the two countries.
