It is the turn of the Pakistani army to suffer a major blow in the restive South Waziristan region of the country. Four Pakistani soldiers have been killed in a fierce insurgent attack on a check post in South Waziristan. The attack reportedly took place on Thursday night and the Pakistani military has claimed that four insurgents were killed. This check post is located on the border of Afghanistan.

A search operation has been launched to nab the insurgents, according to a statement issued by the Pakistani military. The attack was condemned by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan. Earlier this month, two soldiers were killed and four others were injured in clashes with insurgents in North Waziristan. The area where the attack took place is reported to be very mountainous and the rebels hide after the attack.

Claiming the elimination of terrorists

The Pakistani military claimed to have wiped out militants like the Pakistani Taliban from the area a few years ago but that has proved to be a hoax. Insurgent groups are constantly targeting the Pakistani military. A few months ago, militants in Balochistan province attacked a convoy of Pakistani oil and gas personnel going to protect Pakistani paramilitary forces, killing 14 people.

An army convoy was also targeted by insurgents in North Waziristan before the attack. Six soldiers, including a Pakistani army officer, were killed in the attack. The militants targeted an army convoy by IED near the Rajmak region of North Waziristan, according to a statement issued by the army.
