China's new Coastguard law will increase tensions in the South China Sea: US

Washington, Ta. Saturday, February 20, 2021

All neighboring countries have protested the Chinese government's enactment of a law empowering the Chinese Coast Guard. The United States has said it is concerned about China's new coastguard law, which could lead to tensions in the South China Sea and unrest throughout the region.

The Chinese government has enacted a law empowering the Chinese coastguard in the name of national defense and sovereignty. According to the law, the coastguard can destroy a warship if it fears a foreign navy.

Will be able to wield weapons on foreign navies or ships. The Coastguard will be able to make that decision on its own. Until now, the Coastguard has had to wait for orders from military officials and the government, but under the new law, Coastguard officers will be able to take action against foreign troops or individuals at their own discretion.

The United States has expressed concern about the law, saying it would create unrest in China's new coastguard law. According to the US, the law would increase the Chinese Coastguard's conflict with neighboring countries in the South China Sea.

State Department spokesman Ned Price said countries including Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia have opposed China's new Coastguard law and expressed concern. Meanwhile, Republican lawmakers have introduced a number of bills in the US Congress to curb China's influence and bigotry.
