China withdraws 200 tanks from Ladakh in two days after agreement, withdraws troops soon

New Delhi, dated 12 February 2021, Friday

For the first time in Ladakh, tensions between India and China are easing. While the two countries' armies have agreed to withdraw from the Pangong Lake area, there are also reports that China is withdrawing its troops faster than expected after the agreement was reached.

According to media reports, China has removed more than 200 tanks from the Ladakh region in just two days. It is being denied that China will withdraw its troops from the area within 15 days as stipulated in the agreement, after which the Indian government will hold talks on other areas as well.

Rajnath Singh informed Parliament on Thursday that the Chinese army was ready to retreat from Finger Eight. Officials say the agreement is currently limited to the Pangong Lake area and it will take about two weeks for both countries' armies to withdraw from the area.

After the completion of this process, the military officials of the two countries will once again hold talks and will also discuss the deployment of troops in the Hot Spring, Depsang area.
