With the Assembly elections approaching in Bengal, the bloody game of politics is also intensifying. A few days ago, a BJP leader was attacked with bombs and bullets. Zakir Hussain, the state's minister of state for labor, was bombed near Murshidabad's Nimitta station late Wednesday night on his way to Kolkata. He has been admitted to a hospital in Kolkata where his condition is stable. His limbs and other parts of his body were injured. A total of 22 people, including a minister, were injured in the attack, seven of them in critical condition.

It was learned that the minister was going to the station to catch the train. Coming out of the vehicle, they proceeded towards platform No. 2 to catch the train when suddenly a bomb was hurled at them. Some of his supporters and allies were also with him at the time and they were chanting slogans of Zakir Hussain Zindabad.

Chaos erupted at the scene after the attack on Zakir Hussain. Police are currently investigating who carried out the attack and for what reason, and a close circuit camera of the railways around the scene has been used to identify the culprits.

Why the attack?

According to Trinamool Congress sources, Zakir Hussain had lodged a written complaint with the state government against the district's cattle smugglers. He also had a dispute with some traders in the area so he was on target for a long time. Apart from that, according to people close to Zakir Hussain, he was in trouble with some party leaders in the district. A few days back, Zakir Hussain had also lodged a complaint that he might be attacked at Raghunathganj police station.
