Amid allegations that crime is on the rise in Uttar Pradesh, a shocking incident has come to light in which a gang of robbers is being run by the police themselves.

Three policemen, including a sub-inspector, were arrested in connection with a Rs 35 lakh robbery of two jewelers in the Maharaj Ganj area of ​​Gorakhpur.

According to a Gorakhpur police spokesperson, Rs 19 lakh in cash and Rs 16 lakh in gold and silver were recovered from them. A police spokesperson said that since the investigation began, senior police officials suspected that some policemen may have been involved in the robbery.

Two jewelers were recently robbed of Rs 35 lakh in Maharajganj, Gorakhpur. After receiving a police complaint, the police took immediate action and succeeded. Speaking to media, Gorakhpur Senior Superintendent of Police Joginder Kumar said, "Looking at the manner in which the crime was committed, we suspected from the outset that police personnel were involved in the incident."

He said that during the rigorous interrogation of Sub-Inspector Dharmendra Yadav, he had confessed to being involved in the robbery. Apart from Dharmendra Yadav, four other constables and a Bolero driver were arrested by the police. "A Bolero car appeared at the scene when we inspected the CCTV," he added.

When he checked the number of the bolero, he found out that the bolero was around the police lines. We were able to reach the criminals easily after Bolero got the car. A total of six jawans, including a sub-inspector, were arrested and the entire booty was seized from them.
