Patna 13th January 2021 Wednesday

Rupesh Kumar, a local manager of Indigo Airlines, was shot dead outside his home in Patna, the capital of Bihar.

Rupesh Kumar's dominance in Patna was like that of a celebrity. He was on his way to his residence from the airport on Tuesday when he was shot outside or near the house. He was rushed to a hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

According to eyewitnesses, the killers on the bike fired six shots at Rupesh Kumar simultaneously. The bikers then fled, brandishing guns. The incident took place near Kusum apartment in Punaichok area within the limits of Shastringarh police station. Sensation spread throughout the area after the incident. Upon receiving the information, the police rushed to the spot and started investigation.

It may be noted here that according to the Bihar State Crime Records Bureau, in the year 2020, there were 2406 murders and 1106 rapes in Bihar, an average of nine murders and four rapes per day. In the last few months, the number of crimes in Bihar has increased significantly. Last December, a RJD leader from Bihar's Bhojpur district was killed and a four-year-old girl was raped in Kaimur.

On the issue of Rupesh Kumar's murder, RJD's Tejaswi Yadav had sharply criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He wrote on Twitter that robbery, rape, murder and other crimes were increasing day by day in Bihar. This was the biggest achievement of Nitish Kumar's government.

Interestingly, it was RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav who sent an offer to Nitish Kumar to form a government in Bihar. "Make me the chief minister," Tejaswi said. I will make you the prime ministerial candidate in the next parliamentary elections.

But recalling previous experiences, Nitish Kumar turned down the offer.
