After the violence in the capital New Delhi on Republic Day, peasant leaders protesting on the Delhi border were reportedly losing the support of others.

Panchayats of at least 15 villages in Haryana's Rewari district had ordered their agitating farmers in Delhi to immediately clear the roads and return to the village. The farmers of these fifteen villages were stationed on the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway.

Farmers were also reported to be returning to their homes from several other places like Ghazipur area. Farmers protesting in Haryana after the violence at the Red Fort were also found to be losing their previous support.

A panchayat comprising 15 villages had ordered the protesting farmers on the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway to return home on January 3. Farmers who had been protesting till now in the Masani Barrage area in Rewari had evacuated the National Highway by Wednesday evening.

Rewadi district superintendent of police Abhishek Jorwal confirmed the information, saying it was true. Farmers protesting in Rewadi district had evacuated the highway. Some of these farmers had gone to Tikri and some others had gone to Jai Singhpura Kheda village (in Rajasthan on the Haryana-Rajasthan border). These people have been sitting at the toll plaza on the highway for the last several weeks. Now the Tolnacas were empty.

According to a report, most of the farmers were upset over the Republic Day violence in Delhi. He did not want to do anything like that, nor did he expect anything like that to happen. That is why some farmers believe that the perpetrators of violence were not farmers among us, but anti-social elements.
