A meeting of all political parties will be held on January 30 before the budget. It will be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi made the announcement to the media on Wednesday morning. He said an all-party meeting would be held on January 30, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will address this meeting.

Joshi further said that in this meeting, the government will brief the parties present on the proceedings to be taken in the session of Parliament. A meeting of the ruling NDA will also be held on the same day. Both these meetings will be held by video conference.

According to the Lok Sabha Secretariat, the two-session budget session will last till April. The first session will run from January 29 to February 15. The second session will run from March 8 to April 8. The first phase of the budget session will conclude on February 15 so that the Standing Committee of Parliament can consider the demands put forward by the various Ministries and Departments. Like the last monsoon session, this budget session will be held in two shifts. The Rajya Sabha will sit till noon while the Lok Sabha will sit from 4 pm to 9 pm. The arrangement was made in view of the Koro epidemic, the parliamentary secretariat said.

The two houses of Parliament met for four hours in the last session so the question period could not be held. This time the question period will also be, it was further stated.

In the last session, there was no question period, so the opposition parties made a fuss and leveled various allegations against the government. It was also alleged that the government had failed in its responsibility and canceled the Question Hour as it was not in a position to face the opposition.
